Little Flower Girls Home, Carmel Convent, Kalmunai
Little Flower Girls' Home was started in August 1928, just a month after the opening of the Carmel Convent, Kalmunai. Kind friends have always helped with donations in cash and kind to care and educate them. Now they are 30 in number and the ages range from 7-17 years. Although we would like very much to train them in many arts and crafts, still opportunities are very limited. So please consider their need and help them in cash or kind. They are housed in the original building, which is badly in need of repair and renewal. Moreover, we have adopted 20 older girl students who are preparing for the forthcoming examination in June this year. Some of them are in our Girls' Home, and the others in different refugee camps. We have identified them and have adopted a programme to help them physically by giving them a meal prior to their study time in the evening, and educationally organize computerised and photocopied notes which thy have lost in the disaster and also by providing them with crash tutoring programmes. Among these girls, five were personally affected by the recent tsunami disaster, namely:
This is an urgent need at the moment and I am humbly appealing to you to help us. Besides we also need some lighting facilities and seating accommodation for them to study. We hope you will help us by coming to our rescue at this dire moment and extend your generous benefaction. Hoping you will heed our plea and hasten to help us we remain.
